ROGace Family Spotlight | Coach Luigi & His Daughters: A Joyful Family Journey

A Father’s Journey, A Family’s Joy

“When I was little, we had to hit against the wall for months before we could step on the court. Now, seeing my girls go through their own process — smiling, learning, growing — it feels like a full circle.” — Coach Luigi

For Coach Luigi, tennis has always been more than a sport. Growing up in Argentina, sports were a way of life — a daily rhythm that taught patience, humility, and joy. His earliest memories are filled with the sound of wooden rackets and the feeling of white sneakers scuffing dusty courts. His mother encouraged him to stay active in every way possible, and tennis quickly became the place where discipline met delight.

Years later, life’s journey carried Luigi from Argentina to Spain, and eventually to Buffalo — where he and his wife, also from Argentina, are raising their two daughters, Tizi (born 2013) and Valentina (born 2016). What began as a way to introduce them to something he loved has turned into a shared family adventure.

From the Wall to the Court

When Luigi enrolled his daughters in ROGace, he hoped for what every parent wants — a space where his girls could grow, find friends, and fall in love with learning. “At first,” he shared, “I just wanted them to enjoy the sport, to see tennis not as pressure, but as play.”

Over time, what he found was even deeper.
He watched Tizi blossom into confidence — not only improving her game but carrying herself with calmness and poise. And he saw Valentina, still full of energy and curiosity, learning what it means to try, fail, and try again — always with a smile.

“When they lose, they don’t cry. They laugh, and they want to play again. That’s something I love seeing — they’re learning joy and resilience at the same time.”

Joining the Team

As Luigi watched from the sidelines, something clicked. The values he saw — the joy, discipline, and purpose woven into every session — mirrored everything he believed in. Soon after, he joined ROGace as a coach, wanting to help create that same environment for other families.

“I wanted to be part of it — not just for my daughters, but because I saw what ROGace was teaching: how to grow as a person, not only as a player.”

Coaching has deepened Luigi’s appreciation for how kids learn. He sees firsthand how the process — not the results — builds lasting confidence. And as both a coach and a dad, he treasures the small, joyful moments that remind him why he started playing all those years ago.

A Legacy of Joy

Thirteen sessions later for Tizi (now a proud ROGace graduate) and fourteen for Valentina (still in full swing), the Cabas family’s journey is proof that tennis can be a lifelong classroom — for character, for connection, and for joy.

“When I see them on the court now, it’s not about points or scores. It’s about smiles. It’s about being together.”

For Luigi, passing down his love for tennis isn’t about creating champions — it’s about raising joyful, grounded, and confident young people who carry those lessons far beyond the court.

ROGace Reflection

At ROGace, we believe joy is both the starting point and the destination of growth.
The Cabas family reminds us that when parents and coaches work together, tennis becomes more than a sport — it becomes a shared language of love, discipline, and gratitude.
