Wojtek’s Corner | October: Full Circle Moments

From former players turned coaches to inspiring acts of resilience, October reminded us what true growth looks like.

Full Circle at ROGace

As Session 1 wrapped up, Wojtek found himself standing among four current ROGace coaches — all of whom once stood on the same courts as young players just five or six years ago.

“When you boil it all down, this is what ROGace is about,” Wojtek shared. “Yes, we want kids to grow in tennis, but more importantly, we want them to grow in life.”

Seeing those young players now leading classes — mentoring the next generation — became a moving reminder that ROGace’s purpose to raise future leaders is taking root in ways that go far beyond the court.

“When kids grow up surrounded by joy and excellence, they don’t just play better — they become better.”

Valentin Vacherot’s Story — Joy, Excellence, Resilience, Gratitude

The second story that captured Wojtek’s attention came from the global stage: the remarkable run of Valentin Vacherot at the Shanghai Masters. Ranked No. 204 in the world, Vacherot had to qualify just to play — and then defeated Holger Rune, Novak Djokovic, and finally his own cousin, Arthur Rinderknech, to win the title.

His words after the match captured the essence of what ROGace teaches daily:

“There had to be one loser, but I think there were two winners — one family that won.”

In that moment, Vacherot embodied every ROGace core value — Joy in the game, Excellence in his effort, Resilience in his climb, and Gratitude for everyone who helped him along the way.

“That’s what we want for our players — not just victories, but character that inspires.”

Community Resilience — Coach John and Kathy

October also brought a powerful example of community strength close to home. After Coach John’s wife, Kathy, suffered a serious accident and began a long recovery, the ROGace family rallied together in support.

Over $7,000 was raised through the Meal Train for Coach John & Kathy, and dozens of families delivered meals and heartfelt messages.

“This is the kind of community we want to build — one that lives out gratitude and resilience, not just talks about it,” Wojtek said.

On behalf of Coach John and his family, thank you for your continued prayers, kindness, and support. Every message, meal, and child’s drawing has made a difference.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Wojtek closed with a reminder of ROGace’s four guiding values — Joy, Excellence, Resilience, and Gratitude — and how each story this month brought those words to life.

“Our children and we ourselves need those values more than ever. We’re all striving for joy. We all face challenges that require resilience. But above all, we need gratitude.”

He ended with heartfelt appreciation:

“Thank you to every single one of you who’s part of this program — past or present. You mean a lot to me, my family, and our organization. We’re committed to making ROGace the best experience possible and continuing to grow together. Have an amazing Thanksgiving — and go ROGace!”

ROGace Reflection:

Growth, gratitude, and community are not outcomes — they’re choices we make daily, on and off the court.
